A look from Jason Wu |
New York Fashion Week keeps truckin along and I've been following all of the goodies for Fall. Max and Lubov Azria take Hervé Léger beyond bandage dresses by adding corsets and harnesses to the line this season. The use of fur and fringe also worked in an unexpected way.
If there was one thing I could appreciate about Jason Wu's collection it was his attention to detail. From the quilting in his military jackets, to the intricate embroidery that showed up on the sides of skirts or on the shoulders of a cape, even down the front panel of a modern shift, to the origami folds on his eveningwear, these details are sure to been seen again in the upcoming season.
Alexander Wang carried over his sport motif from Spring into Fall with mesh turtlenecks, bubble vests, and a leather sweatshirt, something only the downtown designer could pull off. Speaking of leather, his outerwear was dripping in the fabric, in a shiny lacquered finish. Rounding out the collection was a mash up of fabrics and textures consisting of a white shirtdress covered in silky fringe and sheer overlay or a jumpsuit of leather and fur.
