MET COSTUME INSTITUTE GALA: THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

Alexander McQueen "Oyster Dress" from the Savage Beauty exhibit at the Met Museum

Only one event draws the hottest musicians, actors, top designers, and supermodels year after year and that is the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.  This year was no different as Rihanna, Kanye West, Jennifer Lopez, Karl Lagerfeld, and Naomi Campbell just to name a few, flocked to the red carpet.  The theme was Savage Beauty named after the exhibit that pays homage to Alexander McQueen, the late designer best known for his exquisite tailoring and unconventional pieces.

Of course, some looks stole the show, like Gisele Bundchen in her fiery red Alexander McQueen gown and Jennifer Hudson under billowing layers of tulle in her strapless Vera Wang.  Then there were others that did less than impress.  Model Karolina Kurkova in Gaultier Paris wore a mess of lace in her pants/dress combination and Andre Leon Talley looked like he was preaching to the choir in an oversized tent-like creation.  Still, nothing was worse than the double fail of the printed pants worn by designers Rolf Snoeren and Viktor Horsting of Viktor & Rolf.
