First Lady Michelle Obama has recently come under some serious scrutiny for her choice in clothing at the White House state dinner to honor the Republic of China. It seems her decision to wear a gown by Alexander McQueen, a British label, instead of an American designer really ruffled the feathers of members of the fashion elite including Oscar De La Renta and Diane von Furstenberg.
But how can anybody judge her? Obama is a woman first and foremost and as every female knows, we wear what makes us comfortable and what makes us look good. I think the president's wife looks stunning in this gown and if it just so happens to be made by a designer from across the pond, then so be it. Besides, Obama has a lot more pressing issues on her plate to worry about like fighting childhood obesity and supporting military families.
So what did the First Lady have to say when asked about her dress selection? "Wear what you love, that's all I can say."
I couldn't have said it better.
