CAN THE FIRST LADY LIVE?

First Lady Michelle Obama has recently come under some serious scrutiny for her choice in clothing at the White House state dinner to honor the Republic of China. It seems her decision to wear a gown by Alexander McQueen, a British label, instead of an American designer really ruffled the feathers of members of the fashion elite including Oscar De La Renta and Diane von Furstenberg.

But how can anybody judge her? Obama is a woman first and foremost and as every female knows, we wear what makes us comfortable and what makes us look good. I think the president's wife looks stunning in this gown and if it just so happens to be made by a designer from across the pond, then so be it. Besides, Obama has a lot more pressing issues on her plate to worry about like fighting childhood obesity and supporting military families.

So what did the First Lady have to say when asked about her dress selection? "Wear what you love, that's all I can say."

I couldn't have said it better.

TRENDS AT THE GOLDEN GLOBES

The 2011 awards season is well under way. First up, the Golden Globes where the stars converged to showcase their designer duds. Sparkly gowns seemed to be a popular choice this year as celebs such as Scarlet Johansen, Angelina Jolie, and Olivia Wilde shimmered and shined while they made their way down the red carpet. I can't wait to see what's next for the Grammys.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS

The celebrities flocked to the People’s Choice Awards where Eminem and the Twilight Saga were the big winners of the night. But over on the blue carpet there were more winners and unfortunately, losers as well.

The Kardashian/Jenner sisters always look great and this night was no exception. Each of the siblings chose a figure flattering frock that showed off their personal style.

Though some of her past fashion choices have been questionable, Raven Symone was smoking hot in this sleek all black ensemble.

Actress Pauley Perrette (NCIS) is one smart cookie. The author and civil rights advocate studied criminal science before ending up in the entertainment industry. But while her message is a positive one, it has no business on the blue carpet.
